Dreaming of Game Time is part of my Abstract Collection.
I painted Dreaming of Game Time in honor and memory of my daddy, Franklin Delano Henderson, who was a walking/talking encyclopedia of baseball. He did not have a favorite team. He just loved the game, especially the origins and hay days of baseball, when our society was chiefly agricultural. There was often a game playing on the radio or TV throughout my childhood. My daddy also had a fondness for time pieces and the passage of time. I painted Dreaming of Game Time in the style of Surrealism (like Salvador Dali), mixed with expressionism to illustrate a fan's life long love of baseball. I used the Chicago Cubs vs the St. Louis Cardinals at Wrigley Field because they are arch rivals in my home state of Illinois. Since I am the 3rd of 4 daughters, I painted myself as a blob, sleeping and dreaming on 3rd base.
