Description
New Life After the Fire was hand painted with gauche paints and ink.
This is one of my early paintings that was part of an exhibit at the Community Cancer Center in Normal, IL
I envisioned cancer to be like a forest fire that burns away life. After all the surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation treatments, hospitalizations, and doctor's office visits, family and friends, and the patient (if he/she survives), looks for new life and how to move on. But this painting also illustrates the presence of God in our lives. He never leaves us or forsakes us. The crosses on the trees and the sun rays shining through them illustrate the fact that God is with us all the time.
This painting could also be of interest to people who have been through other traumas, such as being displaced by a literal forest fire.
